The Happiest Seaside Town of 2015 (named by Coastal Living Magazine) was one of the luckiest Seaside Towns in 2016. We are so grateful that Southport was spared the wrath of Hurricane Mathew. Many prayers and well wishes to all those (US and Caribbean) neighbors who did not fare as well.
We are so grateful to everyone who checked on us or kept us in your prayers and thoughts. Your calls & emails mean the world to us. We are so blessed to have such wonderful guests and are extremely grateful that our relationship does not end when you drive home. Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much for your friendship!!!
The Inn & the City is up and running and ready to welcome former and new guests. We had time this week to get a few projects done so you may notice a new bed frame in Robert’s Room or a few other upgrades around the property. We had found the nicely carved frame at our favorite Burgaw antique store and didn’t have the time to pick it up or the room empty to put it all together. So…we took advantage of the down time and got some things down around the Inn.
We hope this finds all our friends around NC and the southeastern coast well and dry. Continued thoughts and prayers for all those affected in the US and Caribbean.
Hope to see you soon! Thank you so very much again!!!
Linda & Rick

Paws Place Poster RTR 2016 – Final
As many of you know, Rick & I are passionate about doggy adoption and how it not only saves the precious lives of a dogs but it often saves human lives. At the least, an adopted pet can enrich and endear our lives!
We were blessed this April when we found and adopted Moby. He is a “Borgie:” Border Collie/Corgi mix. We love him to the moon and back. It is because of volunteers and endeavors like those of Paw’s Place that we were able to find and adopt Moby and our beloved Maggie. In their honor, we are proud to support this very worthwhile endeavor! We are also excited about the event. It sounds like a lot of fun!

We are proud to announce that not only has the Robert Ruark Inn received Trip Advisor’s Service Excellence Award for the past five years, it recently passed a significant milestone according to TripAdvisor. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g49552-d1237147-Reviews-Robert_Ruark_Inn-Southport_North_Carolina.html
The Robert Ruark Inn recently received its 200th review of Excellence!
Linda Pukenas, one of the Inn’s owners said she and her husband, Rick are “humbled and grateful” for all the wonderful guests they have had at the Inn. She said she and her husband are honored to receive such feedback and look forward to welcoming and sharing the Robert Ruark Inn, Southport and the entire Cape Fear Coastal area with guests from all over NC, the southeast, the USA and the world.
Linda added, “It is a privilege to share our historic and maritime Southport with visitors. We love being able to welcome them to our circa 1890 Inn and celebrate the history in a quite, luxury-oriented atmosphere. We feel fortunate to be able to share the Inn which was lovingly restored in 2008 and is maintained by us via many local craftsman and talented individuals to whom we are extremely grateful.”https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g49552-d1237147-Reviews-Robert_Ruark_Inn-Southport_North_Carolina.html
Most of all, Linda stressed “We are so very grateful to our neighbors and the citizens of Southport who have supported our business throughout the years. We are thankful for Southport’s tireless and magnificent Visitors’ Center Volutneers & our wonderful Tourism Department headed by Randy Jones. We are also so very grateful to the Southport-Oak Island Chamber, the Brunswick TDA and all the businesses and citizens of Southport who make this City and our Inn so very special. ” She added, “Every day we are thankful for finding and being able to live in Southport.
