The owners of the Robert Ruark Inn proudly announced the re-opening of the coveted Robert Ruark Inn after a year of closure over safety concerns over the pandemic. In March 2020, the Inn closed due to restrictions. After expansion of all safety procedures, the acquisition of an Ozone Generator to be used after each guest reservation and the national, state and local trends, the owners are ready to open the Inn to prior and new guests. Owner Linda Pukenas noted that they have seen strong support from prior guests who have quickly rebooked. Linda noted, “Over 33% of our guests are returning guests. It is humbling and reassuring.”
The Robert Ruark Inn is currently one of the longest running Inns in Southport and has been recognized in national, statewide and local publications. It has also won the local “Maggie Award.” The Inn was restored and renovated in 2009 and offers four beautifully decorated rooms with private baths and luxury amenities (from fireplaces to spa showers to clawfoot tubs to high-end bath products.” Rick Pukenas is also well-known for his complimentary guest tours of Southport aboard the Inn’s electric street cart.
